The Braj area in Uttar Pradesh, the land of Lord Krishna and his consort Radha, is all set to change its profile with a number of development projects at various stages of implementation, according to BJP leader and MP from Mathura Hema Malini.
The film actress-turned politician said here on Sunday that her persuasive efforts had got the Mathura district a special fund of Rs.100 crore allocated from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Projects in progress included a Krishna theme park, a food court, a food processing unit, and a container depot, Hema Malini said.
Also being provided were some skill development programmes, a Radha Rani Express train to Vrindavan, better facilities for the widows in Vrindavan, schemes for empowering women and safety of girls, and a heritage development plan, she said.
Mathura was now firmly on the tourist map of India, the MP said.
She said facilities were being provided in her adopted village Rawal, which is considered to be the birth place of Radha.
Film-set expert from Mumbai Mohan Shetty and eminent architect Uday Kapre had already visited the site of the proposed Krishna theme park which would attract tourists and promote hotel business, she said.
Hema Malini also said that the goods and service (GST) tax was absolutely necessary for uniformity in business activities all over India.
