  • Gurinder Chadha Soaking In Jodhpur's Royal Feel
British filmmaker of Indian origin Gurinder Chadha, who is here to shoot a period drama "Viceroy's House", is loving the royal feel of the city, and says she could get used to life as a "maharani".

"Well earned day off by the pool. I could get used to life as a maharani," the "Bend It Like Beckham" director shared on Twitter with an image, in which she's seen posing against the backdrop of a heritage hotel and its swimming pool.

It seemed to be a perfect Sunday for her, after weeks of shooting here. Chadha seems content with the way her film is shaping up.

"...happy with all on @ViceroysHouse so far! Feels like my best work to date," she had tweeted in mid-September.

Her new film "Viceroy's House" chronicles the last months of Lord Mountbatten and his wife Edwina's stay in India before British rule ended. It went on floors in August end for an eight-week schedule.

The film stars Hugh Bonneville as Lord Mountbatten, Gillian Anderson as Lady Mountbatten, Tanveer Ghaani as Jawaharlal Nehru, Neeraj Kabi as Mahatma Gandhi and Denzil Smith as Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Actors like Michael Gambon, Lily Travers, Manish Dayal, Om Puri, Hans Raj Hans and Huma Qureshi have been cast in other roles in the film, whose focus is the Viceroy’s House in Delhi, which was the home of the British rulers of India.
