Gul Panag's New TV Show Depicts Triumph Of Human Spirit

Darpan News Desk IANS, 13 Mar, 2015 03:05 PM
  • Gul Panag's New TV Show Depicts Triumph Of Human Spirit
Actress Gul Panag, who will be seen hosting reality adventure show “Kingfisher Blue Mile - Mission Mount Everest”, says it “depicts triumph of the human spirit”, and has been shot extensively in a unique yet effective way.

The show will witness a team of nine adventurers who will trek to the base camp of the highest mountain in the world -- Mount Everest. Selected through a series of adventure laden campouts from all across the country, these contestants will push their limits to trek to the Mount Everest base camp.

“It's not just a show as it showcases a journey that has been captured on camera. It's a trek to the base camp of world's highest mountain -- Mount Everest. The show has not been shot like other usual ones,” Gul told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

“We have seen shows that have witnessed people climb the Everest, but they were mainly professionals. Also climbing it is not the same thing as trekking towards its base camp.

“'Kingfisher Blue Mile' is about giving a chance to common people from various parts of the country and they are not specialised climbers. It depicts triumph of the human spirit. Viewers will get a visual treat,” she added.

The 36-year-old, who herself is an adventure junkie, will anchor the show and will help contestants throughout their journey along with the mentors -- world record holding mountaineer twins Tashi and Nungshi Malik, who are the first twins and siblings to climb Seven Summits.

Asked what's her favourite adventure sport and spot, Gul said: "I'm very partial to paragliding. It makes me feel free and smile in the air. And Ladakh has been my favourite adventure destination.

"I recently filmed a documentary for Discovery Channel in Ladakh. It chronicles my journey with a friend of mine in a customised SUV to Ladakh.”

“Kingfisher Blue Mile - Mission Mount Everest” will be aired on NDTV Good Times starting Saturday.
