  • Grateful To Well-wishers, Fans: Big B On Padma Vibhushan
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who was accorded with Padma Vibhushan, one of the highest civilian awards of the country, has thanked his fans for making him what he is today.

The 72-year-old star was honoured by President Pranab Mukherjee at an investiture ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Wednesday.

“The Padma Vibhushan awarded today by the President of India at a most honoured and prestigious ceremony. Humbled and so grateful to all the well wishers and fans who's love and affection and following brought me from humble beginnings to this state,” a post on his official Facebook page read.

The journey from being Bollywood's “Angry Young Man” to “Shahenshah” was not an easy one. The star had trouble getting into the mould of Hindi filmdom because of his conventional looks, but he carved a special place in the showbiz with his acting prowess.

Big B has delivered some exceptional performances in his over four-decade-long film career, with movies such as "Deewar", "Agneepath", "Sholay", "Don", "Black" and "Paa" to his credit.

Giving a glimpse of his journey, Amitabh also shared an image of getting Padma awards, namely Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

“Three Padma Awards: Padma Shri, then Padma Bhushan, and then Padma Vibhushan...from three different Presidents over the years mentioned...so honoured and humbled,” he shared.

On professional front, the actor is gearing up for Shoojit Sircar's "Piku" with Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan, slated for release on May 8.
