  • Don't Have A Godfather Here, Says Yami Gautam
Model turned actress Yami Gautam, who has been presented with the Indian Chamber of Commerce women's achievement award on Wednesday, says it was a matter of pride for her as she has no godfather.

Asked about her feeling on receiving this felicitation, Yami said, "I had the privilege to understand how challenging it is to make it in our respective fields. And this award does give me a sense of pride for making it on my own as I do not have a godfather here and I am not from Mumbai."

The "Sanam Re" actress also said that she has just begun her acting career and has a long way to go.

"This feels a little different. To be felicitated here by Indian Chamber of Commerce is a very big deal. There is a lot more to do as I have just begun my journey. Honour like this gives a lot of encouragement, to work harder and achieve more," she said.

Starting her career as a model, Yami has come a long way and is thankful to her mother for all the support and encouragement.

"I would like to thank the wonder women in my life who is my mother. I am really proud to be from where I am and that is because of my mother. In true sense she taught me the power of belief and to believe in myself," she said.

Yami Gautam last appeared on the silver screen in "Sarkar 3" as Annu Karkare opposite Amit Sadh.
