Divyendu Sharma blames generation gap for AIB controversy

Darpan News Desk IANS, 06 Feb, 2015 01:47 PM
  • Divyendu Sharma blames generation gap for AIB controversy
Actor Divyendu Sharma says generation gap might be the reason behind the AIB Knockout video controversy.

AIB, or All India Bakchod, is a group of stand-up comedians who organised a Roast -- an event of insult comedy -- here two months back. It was a charity comic event where Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar and a panel of comedians "grilled" actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor on their personal and professional lives.

A three-part video of the show went viral after being uploaded on YouTube Jan 28, and ever since it has courted controversy.

"Personally I don't have any problem with that. As a society if people can crack jokes on each other, I think there is no harm in that," Divyendu, who made the audience laugh with his comic skills in his debut film "Pyaar Ka Punchnama", said at an event here Thursday.

"And if they (Ranveer and Arjun) have no problems with the jokes that AIB team were making on them, I don't think someone should have... I don't think it is a big issue. Maybe it's because of generation gap. Some may like and some wont," added the actor, who will be next seen in "Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend".

The AIB Knockout clips were pulled down Tuesday by AIB after Maharashtra Education and Culture Minister Vinod Tawde ordered a probe following complaints about the below-the-belt contents of the programme.
