Darpan News Desk IANS, 20 Dec, 2015 02:09 PM
  • 'Dilwale', 'Bajirao Mastani' Remain Strong At Box Office
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's “Dilwale” and Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone-starrer “Bajirao Mastani” continued to perform well on Day two of their release.

While "Dilwale" raked in over Rs.20 crore, "Bajirao Mastani" managed to mint Rs.15 crore on the second day of its release.

After collecting Rs.21 crore on its opening day itself, “Dilwale”, directed by Rohit Shetty, amassed Rs.20.09 crore in India on Saturday, taking its cumulative total to Rs.41.09 crore, read a statement.

The film, which also stars Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in pivotal roles, received an overwhelming response overseas as well.

“Dilwale” collected $3.4 million on Friday abroad.

“The film registered biggest ever opening for any Bollywood film in UAE and is running to packed houses over the weekend,” the statement read.

It is being appreciated in the US, Britain, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand too.

“Bajirao Mastani”, helmed by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has also earned well.

“#BajiraoMastani biz witnessed superb growth on Saturday, gaining a strong foothold at multiplexes. Friday Rs.12.80 crore, Saturday Rs.15.52 crore. Total: Rs.28.32 crore,” trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted on Twitter.

Apart from Ranveer and Deepika, the film also stars actress Priyanka Chopra.

"Bajirao Mastani" has released in 3,050 screens in India, while it is reported that "Dilwale" made its way into as many as 2,700 screens. The budgets of both films were clearly over Rs.100 crore.

Both the films are expected to see a boost in their collection on Sunday. Also with no big release set for Christmas and January 1, both the films will have enough time to prove their mettle.
