Diamonds are said to be a woman's best friend, but when it comes to actress Deepika Padukone it is all about gold. The former model says “traditionally and culturally, there is something very special about gold”.

The “Bajirao Mastani” star is so fond of gold that for a special party in 2013 she had donned a full-length golden dress. The actress also loves wearing saris with golden work. Deepika is fond of the metal because of the cultural history attached to it.

“Traditionally and culturally there is something very special about gold. It is celebratory and festive, and stands for positivity and prosperity,” Deepika said in a statement.

The actress added that “whenever there's an occasion or a festival, I like giving gifts which have some gold detail on it even if it’s just a gold colour ribbon to wrap a gift."

On the films front, she will be soon making her Hollywood debut with "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage". Directed by D.J. Caruso, “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage”, a sequel to the 2002 film “xXx” and 2005 film “xXx: State of the Union”, also stars Vin Diesel, Samuel L. Jackson, Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa.

The film is slated to release on January 20, 2017.
