Bollywood Director Nishikant Kamat passes away at the young age of 50

  • Bollywood Director Nishikant Kamat passes away at the young age of 50

Another untimely death in Bollywood, Nishikant Kamat the filmmaker who gave Bollywood hits such as Drishyam and Madaari passed away Monday due to multiple organ failure.

Actor Riteish Deshmukh took to Twitter to announce Kamat's death. His wife Genelia Deshmukh also shared her grief via Twitter. 

The director had been battling chronic liver disease and secondary infections for 2 years and was in hospital last month. 

The hospital issued the following statement upon Kamat's admittance as he   complaint of fever and burnout. 

“It was diagnosed that he was suffering from Liver Cirrhosis for the past two years. Initially, we started antibiotics and supportive medications upon which Mr. Kamat showed improvement, but his condition soon deteriorated with progressive liver dysfunction and drowsiness. He was immediately shifted to the ICU, where his general condition gradually declined. Since yesterday, he developed respiratory failure and hypotension“. 

Ajay Devgn, who played the lead in the Hindi remake of Drishyam shared his condolences over social media. 

Condoling his death, LunchBox actress Nimrat Kaur expressed her grief via Twitter.

Actor Randeep Hooda also took to Twitter and shared his post. 

Nishikant Kamat was first seen on the silver screen as an actor in the 2004 film Hava Aney Dey.

He slowly transitioned towards directing and won awards and accolades with his Marathi films such as Dombivali Fast and Lai Bhaari.

Kamat went to direct Hindi films such as Madaari, Mumbai Meri Jaan and Force.

He came in the limelight with the film Drishyam, which starred Ajay Devgn and Tabu in lead roles.
