Bengal celeb candidates unwind before poll results day

  • Bengal celeb candidates unwind before poll results day
Though a bit anxious and jittery, West Bengal's celeb candidates are trying their best to catch forty winks with only two days to go for the counting of votes in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

The last phase of the parliamentary polls in the state ended May 12.

For almost two months, they have been at it - slogging it out from dawn to dusk, with their roadshows rolling through dusty roads and treacherous terrain.

Now, with the focus shifting from the five-phase staggered balloting in West Bengal to the result day May 16, the likes of Bollywood composer Bappi Lahiri and actress Moon Moon Sen are taking time out to unwind and be back with their families.

The Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate from Sreerampur, 'Disco King' Lahiri is catching up with pending record sessions in Mumbai.

His son Bappa told IANS over the phone from Mumbai: "He is relaxing... obviously there are jitters, but he is trying to unwind and it is relaxing to be back with relatives."

Lahiri, the croon captain of the poll game, is scheduled to return to Kolkata a day ahead of the results.

"The entire campaign was a very good experience as he was able to mingle freely with the people and feel their love...," Bappa said.

Similarly, Moon Moon Sen, fighting from Bankura on a Trinamool Congress ticket, is relaxing.

"There is nothing else to do," Sen told IANS.

On the other hand, BJP's nominee from Barasat constituency magician P.C. Sorcar Junior refuses to waste a moment.

Expressing "satisfaction" with his canvassing, the affable Sorcar dubbed the electioneering a "happy experience".

"I am used to performing in front of thousands of people each day and this was no different. Getting to meet them and interact has kept me energised," Sorcar told IANS, adding he is still meeting people post the polls and is "excited" for May 16.
