'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' Zooms Past Rs.100 Crore In Opening Weekend

IANS, 20 Jul, 2015 12:16 PM
Superstar Salman Khan has done it again! His "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", which released ahead of Eid, entered the Rs.100 crore club in its opening weekend itself.

Released on July 17, the Kabir Khan directorial, which is co-produced by Salman Khan Films (SKF) with Rockline Venkatesh, is about the bond shared by a Pakistani mute girl, essayed by young and beautiful child artist Harshaali Malhotra, and an Indian man.

“SKF announce record breaking opening weekend collections of Rs.102.60 crore (Friday 27.25 crore and Rs. 36.60 crore on Saturday and Rs. 38.75 crore on Sunday) for 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan',” shared a source from Salman Khan Films.

The movie, which is distributed by Eros International, goes beyond any religion and boundaries with its heartwarming tale about a man's mission to take the Pakistani girl back to her country. It highlights how love wins over hatred.

Mumbai-based trade analyst Taran Adarsh also shared the collection figures, and described the film's box office success as "monstrous".

“#BajrangiBhaijaan sets BOX-OFFICE ON FIRE. Records MONSTROUS biz on Sun (Day 3). Crosses 100 cr in opening weekend in India. Film trade in an ECSTATIC mood. Last week, #Baahubali. Now, #BajrangiBhaijaan. Raining BLOCKBUSTERS. Achhe din aa gaye," he tweeted.

Adarsh also shared: "#BajrangiBhaijaan is Salman Khan's 8th film to cross Rs.100 cr mark in India. HIGHEST Rs.100 cr score by any actor. Note: Hindi films."

Another trade guru Komal Nahta also appreciated the film's victorious run.

“102.60 crore Bajrangi Bhaijaan first weekend. Outstanding," he tweeted.

The film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
