Babumoshai Bandookbaaz: Bidita Bag On Why Chitrangada Singh Left The Film Mid-Way

Darpan News Desk IANS, 24 Jul, 2017 12:30 PM
Model turned actress Bidita Bag, who is all excited for her upcoming film "Babumoshai Bandookbaaz", says that she does not feel any pressure replacing Chitrangada Singh in the film.

Earlier, Chitrangada was working as female lead in "Babumoshai Bandookbaaz" opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui, but she left the film citing reason that she is not comfortable doing intimate scene in the film.

Bidita has now got the role and she feels no pressure.

"I am aware that Chitrangada is a big star in the industry, but I am not feeling any kind of pressure replacing her in the film," said Bidita in an interview on Sunday.

"I am also polishing my skills and working on my craft from many years. I am a popular face in fashion and modelling industry. I have also worked in Bengali films earlier," she said.

"After couple of small movies, I was waiting for the right opportunity to mark my presence in Bollywood and I got this opportunity and I gave all my efforts to give justice to my character, and I don't think that audience should also have any kind of issue accepting me as an actress," she added.

Bidita also expressed her take on Chitrangada leaving the film midway.

"I don't know the exact reason why she left the film but Chitrangada, in past, has done intimate scenes onscreen. So this could not be reason to leave the film midway, because as an actor you get the idea of your character when director narrates the film script to you," said Bidita.

"Babumoshai Bandookbaaz" stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead role along with Jatin Goswami, Shraddha Das, Anil George, Bhagwan Tiwari, Murli Sharma and Divya Dutta in key roles.

Directed by Kushan Nandy, son of famous media personality Pritish Nandy, and written by Ghalib Asad Bhopali, the film is set to release on August 25.
