Actor Varun Sharma, who shares screen space with Shah Rukh Khan in "Dilwale", says the superstar's 1993 blockbuster "Baazigar" sowed the seeds of acting in him.
"The seed of acting got into me because of 'Baazigar'. My mother knows that very well. She was emotional when she got to know that I am sharing screen space with the man who inspires me (Shah Rukh) and whom I respect as an idol. It's a great feeling for any mother," Varun told IANS.
The "Fukrey" actor said he made his mother proud after landing the role in "Dilwale".
"When I got the confirmation, I told her that I got an offer working in Rohit Shetty's film along with Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Varun Dhawan. And there was a two-minute silence. I knew there were so many things going on in her mind that time. I took her blessings. I think I made her a little bit proud," he added.
The 24-year-old, whose character Chucha in "Fukrey" garnered popularity among cinegoers, says wherever he goes, people still call him by that name.
"My focus is always on making an impression on the audience's mind in whatever role I do. It satisfies both me as an actor and those who are watching me as well," he said.
"Chucha in 'Fukrey' made such a mark on people's minds that even now when I go out they call me first by that name then greet me as Varun. For any actor to be called by his character name is his biggest victory. And now I hope it changes with 'Dilwale'," he added.
Directed by Rohit Shetty "Dilwale" also stars Kajol, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Boman Irani, Johnny Lever among others.
The film is releasing on December 18.
