Audience Demand Has Improved Film Content: Priyanka Chopra

IANS, 03 Jun, 2015 01:43 PM
  • Audience Demand Has Improved Film Content: Priyanka Chopra
Bollywood has grown over the years from just being a bank of masala films. Realistic films are being made, actresses are no longer mere eye-candies and roles are performance-oriented. National Award winning actress Priyanka Chopra says it's a result of the demand and supply chain.

"I believe wherever there is demand, there will be supply. Our audience now has access to global cinema. We're no longer living in a bubble. Demand has transformed the audience, they are demanding better content because they feel they're educated and can understand various kinds of films," Priyanka told IANS.

"That is why content-driven films are made. The film industry is a mirror of what the audience wants to see," she said on the sidelines of a promotional event for her forthcoming film "Dil Dhadakne Do".

The success of female-oriented films "Piku" and "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" are an example of the changing scene in Hindi cinema.
