Ashutosh Gowariker Enjoys Finding Actors From Regional Channels

Darpan News Desk IANS, 12 Jul, 2016 12:35 PM
  • Ashutosh Gowariker Enjoys Finding Actors From Regional Channels
Director Ashutosh Gowariker, who is awaiting the release of his next release "Mohenjo Daro", says he enjoys the process of finding actors and more so by browsing through the various regional language TV channels.

"Right up to my recent film, I would go on the various channels on television, to look at the regional programming that is existing and you are able to see so many actors who, for some reason or the other, have not been able to make it to Mumbai," Gowariker said.

"Probably financially they have not been able to come or some feel that there is no point in going to Mumbai. And most of the times I have got my talent from there," he said at the launch of a digital portal Talent Next here.

While he says it is a very time-consuming process, the actors are always "very pleasantly surprised" to know that they were contacted in this manner.

"DD Oriya, DD Srinagar, DD Bangla... I have been going to all these channels and sourcing the actors and that can only be done when you have a kind of scripting level clear thoughts," added the filmmaker, who has worked with the likes of superstars Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan.

In "Mohenjo Daro", he has given a Bollywood break to actress Pooja Hegde, who had started her career with south Indian films. Earlier, he launched Gracy Singh and Gayatri Joshi in films.

"Mohenjo Daro" is releasing on August 12.
