Anil Kapoor Proud That Ireland Chose Indian Origin Leader Leo Varadkar

IANS, 16 Jun, 2017 12:07 PM

Veteran actor Anil Kapoor says he is proud of Leo Varadkar, who is the first Irish Prime Minister having an Indian heritage.

Anil on Friday took to Twitter to the progressive outlook in Ireland in appointing Varadkar as the youngest and first openly gay Prime Minister in the majority-Catholic country on Wednesday.

"The first Irish PM of Indian heritage! So proud of Leo Varadkar and of Ireland's progressiveness! The world is slowly but surely changing," Anil tweeted on Friday.

Varadkar is an Irish Fine Gael politician and the current Taoiseach. Following the retirement of Enda Kenny, he was elected as Leader of the Fine Gael Party.

On the acting front, Anil is gearing up for the release of the comedy film "Mubarakan" directed by Anees Bazmi.

The film also stars his nephew Arjun Kapoor, Ileana D'Cruz and Athiya Shetty. "Mubarakan" is slated to release in July.
