'Angry Indian Goddesses' To Have India Premiere In November

Darpan News Desk IANS, 16 Oct, 2015 11:48 AM
After garnering applauds globally, Pan Nalin’s film "Angry Indian Goddesses" (AIG), a story which explores free spirit of a group of Indian girls in Goa, will have its premiere in India at the 17th edition of Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival here. Nalin exclaims that finally the “goddesses are home”.

A special screening will be hosted at MAMI on November 4, and many Bollywood bigwigs are expected to attend the same, read a statement.

For Nalin, the news of the screening is a cherry on the cake.

“We have been flooded with festival invitation from around the world. We made it for a commercial release in India - everything else is a gift from heavens. So, making India premiere at MAMI just prior to its India release is electrifying and encouraging. 'Angry India Goddesses' are home,” Nalin said.

“Angry Indian Goddesses” has earned many accolades at various international platforms. It was screened at Rome Film Festival, and won the first runner-up at the 40th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) this year.

The all-out female buddy film boasts of a line-up that includes Sandhya Mridul, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Anushka Manchanda, Amrit Maghera, Rajshri Deshpande and Pavleen Gujral.

"Angry Indian Goddesses" follows the stories of seven girls. It narrates the tale of how Frieda, essayed by actress Sarah-Jane Dias, invites her closest girlfriends to Goa to announce her wedding, and it all turns into a wild bachelorette party.

"Angry Indian Goddesses" is expected to release with "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" on November 12.
