Amarinder Gill Complains To Police After 'Love Punjab' Trailer Dropped From YouTube

Darpan News Desk IANS, 05 Mar, 2016 01:30 PM
  • Amarinder Gill Complains To Police After 'Love Punjab' Trailer Dropped From YouTube
Makers of the Punjabi film Love Punjab have claimed that some persons were trying to sabotage the release of the Amarinder Gill-starrer, slated for March 11.

In the complaint submitted to DSP (Cyber Crime Cell, Punjab), Amrinder Gill has alleged that his film’s trailer was released on YouTube on February 20 at around 6.15 pm. But on February 29, the trailer went off the site saying that there has been ‘copyright infringement’ as claimed by one Rajwinder Singh Kakda.

Speaking to media, Karaj Gill, brother of Amrinder Gill, said, “Rajwinder is a lyricist for one of our songs in the film. When we contacted him, he said that the email id, with which the request was sent to YouTube claiming copyright infringement, was not his.

We sent a request to YouTube and our trailer was back on March 2 but on the same day, the official Facebook page of Amrinder Gill was hacked and laced with abuses. More than 14 lakh viewers who were watching our trailer on YouTube and almost 5 lakh people who were on our Facebook were affected. The film may suffer financially because of this.”

Amrinder Gill, a giant in the Punjabi film industry, will see his movie compete with another acclaimed singer-turned-actor Gippy Grewal’s directorial debut Ardaas.

Pushpinder Happy, Grewal’s brother, said “some third party” is trying “instigate rivalry” between both superstars.

Love Punjab is a family drama of NRI Punjabi couple who visit Punjab to teach their child importance of joint families and cultural values. Interestingly Ardaas also plays in the same genre and is combination of short stories of Punjabi rural households- highlighting their ordeal.
