All Tv Shows Aren't Regressive: Ekta Kapoor

Darpan News Desk IANS, 11 Dec, 2017 01:36 PM
  • All Tv Shows Aren't Regressive: Ekta Kapoor
Popular TV and film producer Ekta Kapoor says that not all television shows are regressive.

Ekta was present here on Saturday for the conference - 'We The Women', along with Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani, and filmmaker Karan Johar.

During the interaction, one budding actress asked Ekta about the regressive projection of women on the small screen.

Ekta said: "There are hundreds of shows on the Indian television though I agree with the fact that some of them are melodramatic, might be a little regressive but remember that all television shows are not regressive. It won't work if it's regressive. There are so many women watching the show and they do not want themselves to be put in a bad light."

"A script could be highly melodramatic but that does not make a story regressive. We, in the Indian television industry, have a show like 'Shakti' that deals with the third gender.

"No movie or show have been made on the third gender, and that show is talking about it. It is a long-time running the show. So, please do not say that our television is regressive. There are some very very progressive shows on our television," she added.
