  • Akshay Kumar Films For 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' On Govardhan Hill
Actor Akshay Kumar and actress Bhumi Pednekar are filming for "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha" on the pilgrimage centre Govardhan hill here.

Akshay began working on the film on Monday after Govardhan puja.

The shooting venues are Nandgaon and Barsana, where old havelis are being decked up and the natural beauty of the area is being spruced up for the film, said a source.

The film's team is here on a 40-day schedule. Its narrative is reportedly based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

A social satire, the movie tackles the menace of open defecation, the shift in mindset, and the wave of social change that is set to transform India.

Presented by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and KriArj Entertainment, the film is slated to release next year.

The Neeraj Pandey directorial is being co-produced by Cape of Good Films, Friday Filmworks and Abundantia Entertainment.
