After PM Modi's Joke, Twinkle Khanna On The 'Only Party' She May Be Part Of

Darpan News Desk IANS, 26 Apr, 2019 08:56 PM

Actor-turned-author Twinkle Khanna on Friday quipped that there's only one "party" she would like to be part of amidst the ongoing 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Twinkle's husband and actor Akshay Kumar recently interviewed Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the interview, Modi took a dig at Twinkle saying he keeps a close tab on social media and knows about her views on his governance.

"She gets really angry with me, which is good. Since all her anger is focussed at me, your family life must be quite peaceful," Modi told Akshay of Twinkle.

Twinkle took Modi's comments in a positive way and tweeted: "I have a rather positive way of looking at this. Not only is the Prime Minister aware that I exist but he actually reads my work."

Her tweet created speculations on social media whether she was looking at entering politics or supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

But Twinkle cleared the air with a tweet on Friday: "Nothing more - Nothing less - A response does not translate into an endorsement. The only party I am likely to be a part of at this point would involve liberal amounts of vodka shots and a hangover the next day."

Ms Khanna's latest tweet comes after many on Twitter wondered whether she is looking at entering politics.

An active social media user, Twinkle Khanna, in 2017, had criticised the Narendra Modi government for imposing hefty taxes on sanitary pads.

On April 21, she commented on the BJP's Mathura candidate for the national election, actor-turned-politician Hema Malini driving a farm tractor with fans attached to it to keep her cool in the blazing sun."Trying to paint 4 pictures in a 1000 words and if the BJP claim the cosmic black hole as their own-you know who to blame," Ms Khanna tweeted.

Twinkle Khanna's first book "Mrs Funnybones" sold over one hundred thousand copies, making her India's highest-selling woman writer of 2015.
