Actor Alok Nath's son Shivang was caught drink driving on Monday night after a chase on the streets of Mumbai.

Shivang Nath has been fined Rs. 2,600 and is car has been impounded.

He was returning from a birthday party along with three friends - including two women - when he was stopped by the police for an alcohol check.

Instead of stopping, the police say, Shivang stepped on the gas and tried to speed off.

The police then chased him and intercepted his car in suburban Bandra.

Shivang was allegedly drunk and didn't have a driving license either. The police say his women friends tried to shield him, arguing that they were driving.

The police have charged Shivang with drink driving and driving without a license, besides disobeying the police, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashok Dudhe.

He was let off on the condition that he would show up in court for hearings, said the police officer.

News of his son's encounter with the law left Alok Nath, a popular TV and film actor, facing a fresh volley of "Sanskari" jokes on Twitter.
