Aamir Has Every Right To Be Worried, Says Aparna Sen

Darpan News Desk IANS, 27 Nov, 2015 11:11 AM
National Award winning filmmaker Aparna Sen on Friday defended actor Aamir Khan saying his comment on intolerance is being "blown out of proportion" and that his concerns are justified as a citizen of the country.

"It's been blown out of proportion. As a citizen of the country who has given us 'Satyamev Jayate', Aamir has every right to be worried. Why are people blowing it out of proportion," Sen posed.

Earlier, superstar Shah Rukh Khan had ruffled feathers when he said that there is "extreme intolerance" in India. In response, a BJP MP compared him with Pakistani terrorist Hafiz Saeed, while another senior BJP leader called him a 'deshdrohi' (traitor), while Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Sadhvi Prachi dubbed him a "Pakistani agent".

Asserting that "incidents of intolerance are going unpunished" in the country, Sen pointed out that Sadhvi Prachi's "divisive" comments went unrebuked.

"When people like Sadhvi make such remarks... that kind of thing is really divisive. But nobody chastised her, nobody took her to task as they took Aamir to task," Sen told the media here.
