A 32-year-old cab driver has been arrested for allegedly stalking film producer Ekta Kapoor over the past few months in Mumbai.
The accused identified Sudhir Rajendra Singh has been working for a cab aggregator.
According to police, Sudhir, who is a resident of Haryana, wanted to befriend Ekta in order to bag a role in one of her films or television series.
The police found 30 different instances of Sudhir Rajender following Kapoor, including to a Juhu temple and her gym.
Singh continued to stalk Ekta, despite being dismissed multiple times. He was also warned by Ekta’s bodyguards, when he tried to meet her at a temple in Juhu.
The 32-year-old collected information on Ekta and enrolled himself in the gym that the producer would go to everyday. While, the producer worked out, the stalker would wait for her outside the gym.
A police officer said: "On March 16, Singh tried to follow Ekta into the gym, but was stopped by her guards. Ekta's company submitted a complaint about Singh after which he was arrested on March 18 from Andheri West. We have booked him under Section 354 (D) of the IPC".
The police are also checking Singh’s phone.
“We need to find out how he got information about Kapoor’s whereabouts and schedule. We will submit a chargesheet soon,” the officer said.
The police used CCTV footage to nab Sudhir.
