Diljit Dosanjh starrer 'Jodi Teri Meri' releasing day before in Canada on May 4th

Chandigarh, May 3 (IANS) A court in Punjab's Ludhiana has stayed the release of Punjabi film 'Jodi Teri Meri', a biopic starring Diljit Dosanjh on the late Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila and his second wife Amarjot Kaur.
The film is slated for release worldwide on May 5th but it is releasing a day before on May 4th in Canada.
Civil Judge (Junior Division) Karandeep Kaur has ordered to issue summons to Dosanjh, actress Nimrat Khaira, Gurmail Kaur, the wife of Chamkila, Karaj Gill of Rhythm Boyz Entertainment Pvt Ltd and Daljit Thind of Daljit Motions Films returnable by May 8, the next date of hearing.
The order on Tuesday came weeks after another court in Ludhiana had stayed the "broadcast, release and streaming" of another biopic on the couple, titled 'Chamkila'.
Chamkila and Amarjot Kaur were gunned down on March 8, 1988, during militancy in Punjab.
"From the documents, a prima facie case is made out in favour of plaintiff (Ishdeep Randhawa). Balance of convenience is also in his favour and if defendants are not restrained from releasing the film 'Jodi Teri Meri", then an irreparable loss will be caused to the plaintiff, which cannot be compensated with any cost," says the order.
"Accordingly, defendants are hereby restrained from releasing the film on May 5 except in due course of law till next date of hearing (May 8)," added the order.
The track, composed by Tanishk Bagchi, oozes the Punjabi flavour with the prominent hook in the form of a new version of 'Bajre da sitta'. It marks the second collaboration between Guru and Zahrah after their hit track 'Dance Meri Rani'.
Diljit has recorded 13 studio albums and established himself as one of Punjabi music's biggest stars. His 2020 album 'G.O.A.T.' was featured on Billboard's Global Chart.
The peppy up-tempo track laced with Punjabi flavour, has been composed and penned by Guru Randhawa and features Punjabi actress Neeru Bajwa. The music for the track produced by Preet Hundal, sees director Rupan Bal at the helm of affairs of its music video, which has been shot in Dubai at some of the most exquisite locales including Burj Khalifa, the swankiest hotels and the desert dunes.
Deep Sidhu appears in the role of a Sikh gentleman in the song, which was unveiled by Sumeet Singh, producer and owner of Saga Music, director Amarpreet Chhabra and singer Dilraj Grewal in the presence of Mandeep Sidhu, brother of Deep Sidhu.
The Indian singer and actor who has given us much loved hits "Jatt Di Akal" is in your city of Vancouver at the Orpheum Theatre. Bawa's 2015 album Mitti Da Bawa was awarded the "Best World Album" award in 2015.
The accident took place on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway that bypasses the national capital. Sidhu was going from Delhi to Bathinda in Punjab when the car in which he was travelling rammed into a trailer truck at 9.30 p.m., the police said. His woman co-driver escaped in the accident.
