Anita Majumdar

Bio:

Anita Majumdar is an award-winning actress, playwright, and an acting graduate from the National Theatre School of Canada.

 

She is best known for her role in the CBC television film Murder Unveiled for which she received the Best Actress award at the 2005 Asian Festival of First Films. She gained recognition with her one-woman play Fish Eyes, in which she played three different parts.  

 

Having trained in classical Indian dance, she integrated the dance form into Fish Eyes, which premiered in Toronto in 2005. It was nominated for Dora Mavor Moore Award and has toured extensively across Canada and abroad.

 

Her book, The Fish Eyes Trilogy, was published by Playwright’s Canada Press and released in 2016. Majumdar has acted in many television dramas and films, namely Diverted, Republic of Doyle, Midnight’s Children  and Gavin Crawford’s Wild West.
