About Darpan

A pioneer in the South Asian media, DARPAN Magazine has been a leader and trendsetter in the Canadian market since 2004. Over the years, DARPAN readers have been engaged with diverse lifestyle-based features and in-depth, thought provoking editorial pieces. We are proud to offer thoughtful, engaging editorial features within a gorgeous, high-end glossy publication.

DARPAN Magazine has become an integral part of the South Asian community and greater Canadian society. The publication strives to reflect growth, accomplishments and connections to like-minded people in order to achieve a greater, effective and enlightened community and overall society.

It is DARPAN’s mandate to feature inspiring South Asian role models and achievers, who have made significant accomplishments in their respective fields and to the societies they reside in. Throughout the years, our Cover has highlighted the likes of Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Kunal Nayyar, Padma Lakshmi, Noureen DeWulf, Lisa Ray, Dr. Narinder Kapany, Vikas Khanna and Sunita Williams to name a few.

Readers are exposed to the amazing life stories of the individuals featured on DARPAN’s Cover through the interesting, uplifting “Cover Story” of each issue, which we hope will inspire others in their own lives.

Exclusive to DARPAN are our “Spotlight” features, which highlight South Asian community members from students and athletes to activists and professionals, whom are making important strides in their fields and more importantly, making positive contributions to Canadian society as a whole.

DARPAN’s Business section offers a well-researched, relevant feature on business, economy and politics, while Business Profiles offer a glimpse at the ‘movers and shakers’ in the community.

Our “Reflections” and “Special Features” editorial aims to raise awareness and provoke discussions on a range of topics from immigration, bullying and health-related issues to climate change, online privacy and overcoming hurdles in life.

DARPAN is the go-to magazine for the very latest in Lifestyle, Entertainment and Auto Reviews. Our Lifestyle section covers health, fitness, beauty, fashion, recipes, weddings and of course, travel. Readers turn to these pages to learn more from our experts in their respective fields; gain information about the latest trends and tips; and to escape from the stresses of daily life to indulge in lighter, fun reading.

The Entertainment section offers a glimpse into Hollywood, Bollywood and Darpan Exclusives, which feature a range of celebrities and well-know figures from Kareena Kapoor Khan and Irrfan Khan to Deepa Mehta. Lastly, our Auto Reviews has become one of our most-read sections offering the latest and greatest vehicles, which are test driven and inspected by our contributing writers, who are AJAC members.

As a result of increasing demand from our readers, we launched the popular Sports section last year featuring the Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions and Vancouver Whitecaps FC. The feedback was astonishing, and we’re happy to interview and showcase your favourite hockey, football and soccer players during the regular and playoff seasons.

DARPAN’s website is interactive, along with its Facebook and Twitter pages, as we strive to keep our readers up-to-date on a daily basis with researched and relevant breaking news with what’s going on around the province, country and rest of the world.

Once a year, DARPAN Magazine hosts its Extraordinary Achievement Awards – a red carpet extravaganza that honours 10 amazing individuals, who have not only conducted extraordinary achievements in diverse areas, but also reflect their South Asian heritage in a remarkable way. Completing its 5th year anniversary in 2014, DARPAN Awards have garnered respect as the most prestigious South Asian event in the Lower Mainland with individuals from the political, social and business arena marking their attendance.

As a platform for all South Asians, DARPAN will continue to find the gems in the community and honour him/her with an award – we hope this simple act will trigger the ripple effect of inspiring more South Asians to do the extraordinary!

DARPAN Magazine strives to offer the very best for our readers and as the world evolves, so does our publication with the goal to always inform, provoke reflection and discussion and be a true symbol of community accomplishment.
